Vinyasa

Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word formed by linking two words together: Nyasa means, ‘to place’ and Vi means ‘in a special or sacred way’. Hence Vinyasa means ‘to place something in a sacred and special way.

This style of class is a great way to strengthen and build lean muscle, detoxify and re-vitalize the body and focus the mind.

A Vinyasa class adds an aerobic element to your yoga practice. Heat is created through challenging work as opposed to a heated room as in a hot yoga class. Classes flow like waves creating a dance-like practice.

Yin

Yin Yoga classes are a wonderful complement to a more yang or active style of yoga such as Vinyasa. This style is great for slowing down and getting centered while working the deeper tissues of the body. Yin poses are generally floor postures that can be held anywhere from three to twenty minutes at a time.

Benefits of a yin practice are:

  • Greater range of motion and flexibility

  • Reduction of acute inflammation

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Calms and balances the mind and body

  • Boosts circulation

HATHA

Hatha yoga is the classical form of yoga postures. The practice incorporates the same sequences as Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga, but at a slower pace.
This is a full body workout suitable for all levels and can be as challenging as you need it to be.
